The brief. Quality World is a global magazine dedicated to the quality profession. I was responsible for desgning the June edition of Quality World magazine.
The solution. The magazine was produced over 2 weeks, where I was responsible for selecting the cover story, to develop a concept for the cover image, commission and manage an artist of my choice within budget. The challenge of this job was to turn very dry feature articles into visually engaging spreads.
Selecting the cover story. I chose 'Taking safety to new heights' as the cover article as it had the most potential for an engaging image. As the article was about building a model for safety, I decided to represent this through an airfix aeroplane model. With the magazine having a large older male demographic, this would be an eye catching cover. I came up with a concept and brief and commissioned a 3d artist to execute this idea. To save on budget costs, I made sure that elements of the image were adjustable for the inside spreads.
